Sometimes the issue can also be because you are trying to install Freeplane with a latest version but Java is obsolete or even vice versa. So make sure that you have the latest version of Java in your system. If not, click on this link to download the latest version of Java. To check the version of Java installed on your system, Open Command prompt or Terminal and type "java -version" and press Enter.
